Peak Captioning founder Traci Walker, RPR-RMR-CRR-CRC has over 30 years of experience in captioning and reporting.
Traci obtained her realtime training at the National Captioning Institute where she worked for four years captioning programming such as “World News this Morning” and “Good Morning America.” For the past 28 years, she has captioned over 140 local stations across the U.S., as well as national programming through iCap and dialup. For over five years, she served as a court reporter for state and federal courts in New York.
In 1996, she joined Caption Colorado (now VITAC), where she was a captioner and an assistant manager managing a team of 85. She built a training program for graduating seniors from the ground up to develop proficiency in captioning live programming. Traci was eventually promoted to manager of recruitment and training.
Traci obtained her AAS degree from the State University of New York – Alfred in 1987. At Alfred, she broke the all-time speed record at 260 w.p.m. with 99% accuracy and still holds that record today. An award given for scholarship and role modeling – the Traci D. Williams-Walker award – was established in her name.
She obtained her BS in Business Management and continually takes classes to further her education. In addition to production and management, she held several sales roles. She currently has a patent pending and has had an offer to write a book. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, golf, tennis, yoga, and skiing.
